2011 DOG LICENSES—THREE-YEAR OPTION

GOOD NEWS!  Dog licenses will now expire on the same date as the rabies expiration date.

You now have the option to purchase a one-year license or a three-year license that will expire in the MONTH of the current rabies expiration date.  However, the rabies vaccination must be valid for the entire three year period in order to purchase the three-year license.  Please note that your 2010 dog license will extend to the MONTH of your current rabies expiration date of 2011.  Rabies vaccines can be renewed any time in the MONTH in which it expires.  You are then eligible to purchase a dog license before the end of the MONTH.

If you do NOT purchase a dog license by the end of that MONTH, a late fee of $15 will be added to the price of the license.

2011 DOG LICENSES MAY BE PURCHASED AT YOUR LOCAL TOWNSHIP/CITY BEGINNING DECEMBER 1, 2010.  Please provide proof of rabies vaccination and proof of spay/neuter as required by State Statute.

The Community Events page is also a recent addition to the website.  If you have any items you would like to submit to the Community Events page, please email Cindy Hodge at mariondpw@ameritech.net.  Events may include homeowners or lake association meetings, local charity fundraisers, garage sales or other events in the Howell area.  If you have any ideas or information you would like to suggest for the website, please let us know.

CLERK’S NEW S

The fourth annual Heritage Days event will be held June 11-12.  If you would like to take part in the planning, our meetings are the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m.  If you happen to have any old photos of Marion Township , please share them with the Clerk’s office for future Heritage Days brochures.  We will scan them and return them to you the same day.

Marion Township cookbooks are available for $10 each at the township hall.  They contain over 200 favorite recipes from our staff and residents.

Trunk or Treat  brought out approximately 175 ghosts and goblins.  Thanks to all who participated, especially the 21 cars that passed out treats.

Recycle Items

In the main entrance to the township offices, you will find recycle bins for special items we are collecting.  There are bins for household batteries and hearing aids, prescription eyewear, and cell phones.  We also collect seasonal items such as used Christmas lights during the holidays.  We helped contribute $1100 to benefit LACASA last year.

The township is now collecting non-perishable food items for Gleaners year round.  There is a box in the lobby for donations.

We are also collecting for LACASA’s 2010 Stuff the Bus. Non-perishable food items or new toys and clothing can be brought in to the township hall before Christmas.

FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWNSHIP

The township hosted two community sales in the parking lot in September and October.  We plan to have one on the third Saturday of each month from April through October in 2011.

There are two computers with Internet access available to the public at no charge during regular business hours, Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm.

We also have wireless Internet access for those of you with wireless devices.
