BULLETIN BOARD 2010 Board Meetings for February are as follows: No Meeting - Zoning Board of Appeals February 11th & 25th - Township Board February 23rd - Planning Commission All Board Meetings begin at 7:30 pm. ********************************************************************************* Township Office Hours Office hours have been changed, the offices will now be open on Mondays from 9am - 7pm. Tuesday - Thursday will remain 9am-5pm. February 11th - Public Hearing for Triangle Lake SAD The Public Hearing Notice and Assessment Roll is located on the Township Board Agenda Page. First click on the Agenda's page, then the Board of Trustees Agenda's to find the Notice of Public Hearing and Roll. You may click on the Roll on that page to see the Proposed Assessment Roll. Cardboard Boxes The Township Offices usually has boxes waiting to be recycled, if you have a need for any boxes feel free to stop by and see if we have a size you may need.

If you would like to utilize this service you may e-mail Cindy at mariondpw@ameritech.net to list your item. The US Census Bureau is now Hiring The US Census Bureau is opening a new office in this area and will begin operations for conducting the 2010 Census. This is and exciting opportunity to enhance your job skills, further your career and improve your community. There are several job openings with salaries starting at $8.25 an hour to $19.50 an hour depending on the position you are qualified for. Marion Township's Emergency Warning Siren The Emergency siren is tested on the first Thursday of every month at 9:00 am. The siren is located at County Farm and Sexton Roads and is projected to be heard for a one mile radius. Township Park #2 Marion Township Park #2 is located on the Township property just west of the Township Hall. Volunteers have built a gazebo at the park. Park meetings are held monthly. Residents are welcome to attend, we encourage your suggestions. A list of meeting dates is available on the upcoming events page on the website. If recreation is your interest, come and join us. New members are welcome. _________________________________________________________________________ Cable Problems If you have complaints about your Cable TV and have been unable to resolve your complaint, the Michigan Public Service Commission will assist you in resolving your issue. We will also be retaining the list for future reference. MHOG Utility Bill Payment Marion Township Residents may pay their sewer and water bill online by using the link below to access the MHOG utility billing site. Master Card and Visa are the credit cards that are accepted for payment purposes. https://genoa.merchanttransact.com If you have a water emergency you may call 1-888-481-0439. This line is manned 24 hours by a live operator. If you have a sewer emergency you may call 546-7510, weekdays 8am - 4pm. After hours or on weekends call 911. Notice of Fluoride Addition The flier below provides information about the addition of fluoride to the MHOG water supply. Lending Library Marion Township has established a lending library for our residents to come in and use. Residents are encouraged to pick up or drop off books. We also have a variety of magazines. The library is open during regular business hours. Come in and check it out. Howell Area Fire Authority Click on the link below to obtain information to obtain a smoke detector free of charge from the Howell Area Fire Authority and Home Depot. Recycling Marion Township is offering recycling services for residents. We are collecting household batteries, used cell phones for LACASA and eyeglasses for the Lions. The collection place for these items is located in the lobby of the offices between the two double doors at the Township Hall. This service is available during regular business hours only. Alchins Disposal is now offering on site dumping, Monday - Thursday 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. For more information you may reach them @223-7119. Times are to be announced, for additional information visit their website @ co.livingston.mi.us/solidwaste Howell Carnegie Library The Library has a website you may access through by clicking on the link below. The Family Place Library is now open at the Library. Family Place Libraries are welcoming and appropriate for very young children, beginning at birth and their parents or caregivers. Materials can be requested on-line and can be picked up 24 hours a day in secured-access lockers at Parker High School. There is also a book return drop box located at Parker High School in the west wing parking lot, as well as another at the Howell Meijer store, near Customer Service. These are easy ways to pick up and return books! Rain Garden The rain garden is located adjacent to the parking lot. The plants in a rain garden help to purify the water and slow the water flow. Stop by when you have a chance, it's a great example of what homeowners can add to their own yards to help with drainage and water runoff. LETS LETS is a service that transports people in Livingston County. You may also use them as transportation outside the County for round trip appointments. Emerald Ash Borer Warning You may not move any type of firewood out of the 20 quarantined counties in Michigan (Livingston County is one of those counties). If you are caught, you will be found guilty of a civil infraction, misdemeanor or a felony. You will also be fined and/or jailed : not less than $1,000.00, not more than $250,000.00 and will be jailed for up to 5 years. For more information you may call 1-866-325-0023. Storm Tips The following are tips from Consumers Energy. Before a storm arrives have a portable radio, flashlights and fresh batteries handy. Learn how to turn your electricity on and off at the circuit box. During a thunderstorm or tornado unplug or turn off all unnecessary appliances. Stay away from windows, doors or porches. Don't shower or bathe. If your home loses power, first check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker. Watch for fallen wires, broken utility poles or tree limbs on a power line.
